Joan Githinji
Training and Community Officer
Joan is an intersectional feminist and a learning experience designer, who has developed and implemented multi-approach capacity strengthening programs both in the development and humanitarian sectors. She is firm and passionate about shifting constraining social and gender norms, and centering inclusivity.
For over 13 years Joan has designed, implemented, and managed elearning programs, trainings, mentorship programs, peer-to-peer learning programs, communities of practice, and accompaniment programs, in the fields of public health, science journalism, agripreneurship, innovation, and LGBTIQ+ inclusion.
Joan has an M.A. in Gender and Development Studies and is a Human-Centered Design (HCD) practitioner. She is also experienced in using Gender Transformative Approaches to address root causes of gender inequalities.
As an instructional designer, Joan designs learning programs that center the learners’ performance gaps and needs, to achieve increase in skills, knowledge, confidence, and attitude.
