Heather Grace Jones

Heather Grace Jones has over twenty years’ experience in community and international development including project management, capacity development, resource development, public awareness campaign management, media training and advocacy and gender equity and social inclusion with a focus on people with diverse SOGIESC.

For the past decade she has worked in Australia, Afghanistan, Indonesia and Pakistan on social justice issues.  This includes working with diverse communities using participatory action research approaches and supporting LGBTIQA+ community members with refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds to share their knowledges to improve service delivery and inclusion. Ms Jones is an experienced trainer who has run courses at Macquarie University, the University of Technology Sydney, Herat and Jalalabad Universities and the University of Peshawar.  She has also trained community workers and service providers in a range of skills most recently civil society strengthening and intentional inclusion. She has managed and run workshops and campaigns on the elimination of violence against women, alternative livelihoods, the elimination of chronic poverty and working with displaced peoples.

Ms Jones is the co-editor of two books and holds a Masters in Narrative Therapy and Community Work and was one of the founding members of Edge Effect. She is proud to be able to contribute to this work and to be able to be openly queer in a world where queerness is so often dangerous, invisiblilised and stigmatised.
